New Haven is a hub of arts and culture. More than 850,000 people attend performances or exhibits in our region each year. Regional arts organizations account for over 4,000 performances, 500 open days of gallery space, and 45,000 students viewing the arts or taking lessons

The Greater New Haven Community Progress Report 2020 reports that 67% of the adult population regularly visited arts and/or cultural resources in the area.

The performing and visual arts offered in New Haven attract not only city residents but draw a suburban audience and even regional audience into the city. The International Festival, Long Wharf Theatre, the Shubert, Artspace and the CT Folk Festival draw approximately 25% of their audience members from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut areas beyond Greater New Haven.
