NOTICE: The Small Grants process is closed for 2020

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Community Foundation is changing the priorities of our Small Grants process and will consider program or capacity building requests that are directly related to the COVID-19 crisis.

A program such as providing a service virtually or capacity building needs such as hiring a consultant to help with assessing your budget or purchasing technology to enable virtual programming or allowing staff to work remotely may be typical examples. Request must be for needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This small grant process cannot consider requests for operating support to replace lost revenue as a result of the impact of COVID-19 on an organization.

As always, organizations with operating budgets of $2 million or less are eligible to receive a grant of up to $7,500 provided through this process. However we are suspending the rule that organizations cannot apply two successive years. Therefore, if your organization received a grant in 2019, it may apply again this year for a request that fits into the grant priorities stated above.

Please note that this is a rolling grant process and applications are reviewed on a first come, first served basis. The average size of a Small Grant is between $3,000 and $5,000.

Requests considered for funding through this process include:

  • Access for Small Organizations: Defined as assistance for small non-profit organizations that would not normally be competitive in the responsive grant process.
  • Time-sensitive: Defined as needs which require a quick response from The Community Foundation that can make a significant difference in the outcome of a project.
