2022 Grant Funding for Nonprofits Serving Greater New Haven
2022 Grant Schedule Announced
New Haven, CT (January 7, 2022)* - The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, the region’s permanent endowment and largest grantmaker to local nonprofits, and its partner in philanthropy, the Valley Community Foundation, announce the opening of their 2022 grant application processes.
Annually in January, the foundations co-host a webinar that provides an overview of the various competitive grant opportunities, deadlines and capacity building workshop sessions available to nonprofits serving Greater New Haven. Applications are subject to eligibility criteria, including adherence to The Community Foundation’s anti-discrimination policy. 2022 Grant Programs in order of application deadline dates:
The Neighborhood Leadership Program
Application Deadline: January 18
The Neighborhood Leadership Program is a training and grant program for residents of New Haven, Hamden, East Haven and West Haven. The program supports the development of projects that build community and provide positive outcomes. Up to $3,000 in funding is available.

The Quinnipiac River Fund
Application Deadline: January 21
The Quinnipiac River Fund, a component fund at The Community Foundation, makes grants for projects designed to benefit the environmental quality of the Quinnipiac River, the New Haven Harbor and surrounding watersheds. A total of approximately $100,000 in grants are annually awarded from the Fund.

Responsive Grants - General Operating Support
Application Deadline: February 24
Responsive, general operating support grants offer flexible funding for organizations serving Greater New Haven residents. Single or multi-year grants are available. Grant awards average $25,000 - $30,000.
Responsive grants are available through both The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and the Valley Community Foundation.
Valley Community Grants
Application Deadline: March 4
Grants ranging from $250 to $2,500 are available to community groups and organizations for civic engagement projects.
Valley Community Grants are available through the Valley Community Foundation.
Racial Equity + Creative Healing in the Arts (REACH)
Application Deadline: May 2
Grants ranging $5,000 - $20,000 per-year for up to two years are available to Individual artists and nonprofit organizations seeking to create work that responds to the COVID-19 pandemic with cultural experiences that center racial justice, collective healing, and youth development.
REACH grants are available through both The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and the Valley Community Foundation, in partnership with the Arts Council of Greater New Haven.
BIPOC Cohort for Nonprofit Leadership
Application Deadline: June 6
Up to $15,000 is available to organizations for a two-year leadership development program offered to nonprofit professionals of color.

Event Sponsorships
Application Deadline: Rolling
Sponsorships of up to $2,500 are awarded for one-day events, either virtual or in person. Applicants are advised to apply at least 60 days in advance of their events.

Nonprofit Animal Shelter Grants
Application Deadline: Rolling
Grants up to $7,500 are available to any nonprofit animal shelter serving Greater New Haven.

Small Grants
Application Deadline: Rolling
Grants up to $15,000 are available from The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven for time-sensitive needs. Grants are available for projects, general operating support and capacity building needs. Applicants must be organizations with operating budgets of $2 million or less.

Valley Community COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund
Application Deadline: Rolling
Grants of up to $5,000 are available to nonprofits working to support vaccinations and vaccination awareness.

Valley Needs and Opportunities Grants
Application Deadline: Rolling
Grants ranging from $250 to $10,000 are available to organizations serving Lower Naugatuck Valley residents for innovative programs and emergency needs.
