Black Champions For Health: Sandra Grant

New Haven Healthy Start advocate.

New Haven Healthy Start

"Celebrating Black Champions for Health" series

Sandra Grant joined the New Haven Healthy Start Family in 2013. Prior to joining Healthy Start, Sandra participated in an internship at Yale New Haven Hospital where she collaborated with the mammography van; with the goal of extending services to women in the community and to educate women about the importance of early screening for breast, cervical, and colon cancer. With a public health background and a true understanding of community health, Sandra was eager and excited about the work of NHHS and jumped right in. Last year alone, Sandra enrolled over 200 women and 150 babies into the Healthy Start Program. Sandra is a member of the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Connecticut Public Health Association and the American Public Health Association. She is certainly one of NHHS's #blackchampions4health.
