Passionate -- that is the one word that Laurel Lopossa uses to describe her daughter Ashleigh who tragically passed away from an overdose in September 2016. Ashleigh was an avid snowboarder and taught classes at Killington Ski Resort in Vermont. She inspired many new snowboarders, and her love for the sport and the students she taught always showed.
Friends and family describe Ashleigh as strong-willed, always being up for adventure and fearless. She was kind, honest and "always looking out for others."
The Ashleigh Ann Rector Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarship funds to a student from Hamden High School with a preference for those who snowboard and are interested in pursuing a career in psychology, social work and/or addiction counseling.
Donations are welcome to the Fund; all gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
